Bainbridge Island Rowing is a non-profit, community-based organization, founded in
January 2001, that serves rowers throughout Kitsap County. Our programs currently support more than 80 Junior rowers and more than 50 Masters. Learn-to-Row program are offered from
early spring through Labor Day.
Our Spring 2010 Newsletter describes a most successful year in 2009.
While we raise most of our operating funds through program fees, we rely in large part on the kindness of
friends as well as strangers -- rowers, parents, friends, and other well-wishers -- for funds to purchase sorely needed new equipment and, longer term, to build the boat house we
all dream of having some day.
DREAM BIG!, our annual fundraising dinner and auction, is held in November, usually just
after the end of the Fall season. The date for the 2010 event is Saturday, November 13. Details about venue, tickets, etc. will be announced as soon as they are
available.
Meanwhile, we welcome your donation for either of two specific funds:
-
The Coaches' Discretionary Fund, established in 2009, supports Junior rowers who would
otherwise not be able to participate in out-of-town regattas.
-
The Capital Equipment Fund, which supports the purchase of new rowing shells --
much-needed as our Juniors program (in particular) continues to grow. Double your contribution now: an anonymous donor has offered a $1000 challenge and will match the first
$1000 of additional contributions to the Capital Equipment Fund in 2010.
