Clothing, attendance, etc.
- Clothing: Spandex or tight fitting shorts or pants are highly recommended for practice and required for regattas so that fabric does not catch in the tracks and seat slippage is reduced. Baggy shorts just won't do!
- Footwear: Waterproof sandals or neoprene booties are required: we launch from a beach, the beach is rocky, and the water is polluted. You will also need socks, booties, or shoes for rowing in the boat (different boats have different foot gear), and running shoes for land workouts.
- Attendance is expected: Your participation and commitment level at practice directly contributes to the entire team's success. Seat assignments are set up in advance of each practice, so if you don't show up, you affect the the entire boat. It is your responsibility to contact one of the coaches in advance if you have a conflict or are ill.
- Fitness: To be a successful rower, you must be fit. Successful rowers take the time to work out off the water in addition to regular crew practice.
- Prospective rowers who are less than 5'3" tall and/or less than 120 pounds should expect to start as coxswains unless they meet with a member of the novice coaching staff and receive advance permission to begin rowing.
Have a great season!
