About Bainbridge Island Rowing

Bainbridge Island Rowing is a community-based, non-profit 501c(3) organization, founded in January 2001. Our purpose is to promote all facets of the sport of rowing.

BIR activities take place at Waterfront Park on Eagle Harbor on Bainbridge Island and throughout the greater Puget Sound area. BIR is a member of USRowing, Northwest Region.

Our goals are to:

  • Introduce the public at large to the sport of rowing
  • Provide rowing, training, and related programs for juniors and adults, novice and experienced rowers, from Bainbridge Island and throughout Kitsap County
  • Provide coaching and education for rowers, coxswains, and others interested in supporting BIR
  • Provide training for local, regional, and national rowing competition

Participation in Bainbridge Island Rowing is open to anyone interested in rowing or in supporting crew on Bainbridge and throughout the greater Kitsap area. Our success as an organization depends in large part on the involvement and volunteer efforts of our members, who are expected to contribute by joining committees and work parties. Join now and help us grow!

  • For Masters rowers, annual dues in 2011 are $200/year; rowing fees may be paid annually, seasonally, monthly, or by punch card. Benefits include access to all BIR rowing programs, voting privileges at the annual and other special meetings -- and the opportunity to help build a vibrant rowing community on Bainbridge Island.

  • For Juniors, non-voting membership is included automatically with paid registration for a given rowing season.

For more information about fees and programs, see the Juniors or Masters pages as appropriate. For further information about BIR programs and activities, please browse the rest of this website or send email to info@bainbridgerowing.org.
